For hundreds of years, people have talked about the first stage of a relationship as “the honeymoon” or “puppy dog” phase. It’s the time where we’re being our best selves, wearing our cutest outfits, displaying our best manners, constantly holding hands or snuggling. As time goes on, this phase sort of drifts into one of comfort, where we let a toot slip out now and then, pop in our headgear before climbing into bed, or plop our smelly, post work-out feet on our love’s lap. But hey, if you can’t be your true self around your significant other, they’re not the one for you anyway right. 😉
